| Sleep... sleep... SLEEP! |
[08 Nov 2009|09:36am] |
|
My son is an angel. I would be the luckiest (well, still am) mama in the world if ONLY he would sleep well at night. I'm so hesitant to just cut him off from nursing at night because I just have this feeling it's something deeper than him just being in the habit of waking up all night to nurse. He wakes up about every hour, sometimes he nurses back to sleep and sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes I can just pick him up and hold him for a second and he's out like a light, I go to lay him back down in his crib (sidecarred to our bed) and he's out.. I roll over to go back to sleep and he rolls himself over and sits up, awake again. Wash, rinse, repeat for sometimes the next hour or so. I've tried everything under the sun to help him sleep better. White noise, no white noise. Fan on, fan off. Heat up, heat down. Lights on, lights off. Blanket on, blanket off. Teething tablets/Gas drops/Tylenol before bed to help ease any discomfort he could be going through, etc. etc.. HOW can I help him sleep better at night? When should I suspect it could be a medical reason or do some babies just go on to sleep like this forever? Oh, and he's 14 months now and has been sleeping like this starting around 6 months.

| Australian Media Fails |
[08 Nov 2009|03:50am] |
Australia continued to roll on as Britney performed her 2nd show in Perth at Burswood Dome.
But it’s had its fair share of controversy over the past few days. From Thursday, even before the concert had kicked off, the media in Australia had already criticised the pop star for lip-syncing. This issue had been raised after politician Virginia Judge (Minister of Fair Trading, NSW) put forward her 2 cents worth saying that the public had been mislead, and wanted fans to know exactly what they could expect from the show.
“It is Britney’s ‘prerogative’ to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front.”
The Australian media were quick to jump onto it, and reported that the cost of the tickets was not justified for a “glorified miming act”. Paul Dainty, Director of Dainty Entertainment Consolidation had defended Britney’s show.
"I did go to the show in America with a degree of cynicism, as anyone would because of (what) we’ve read and heard, but she was absolutely fantastic"

| 4 month sleep regression |
[08 Nov 2009|09:06am] |
My daughter is almost 4 months old, and she's definitely doing the sleep regression thing. Also, the crying all the time thing, and the rolling from back to tummy thing (a new skill), and possibly the teething thing. Combine that with the reflux and the fact that she's a colicky baby anyway, and we're basically having a superfun time!
How long did the sleep regression situation last for you? Will we ever sleep again? She's always been a terrible day sleeper, but for a while there she was doing pretty well at night.
Also, if you thought your child was teething but was also colicky, how would you know when to give Tylenol? We've been giving it to her once a day for the past several days, when she has a peak of crying that doesn't stop, can't be soothed, and seems to be about pain. It seems to help, though it isn't always definitive. I'm worried that I'm using Tylenol too much, or inappropriately. Any advice?

First three pictures were taken in Spain and the last one with the balloons was taken in Portugal.

This is my friend Kenedie. =] We bought sarongs this summer at the flea market, and she wanted to do photos wearing hers. The headdress she is wearing is mine; I got it from the county fair oddly enough, and it is hand-made and extremely delicate. I'm not great with the camera so be kind, please. =]
